Abstract:The author makes a case study of tourists in Nankun Town. Interviewed employees in hotels, restaurants, stores, and barber shops and, collects data in the local tourist department from July 13 to July 21, 1993. There are 102 valid completed questionnaires.
The conclusions drawn from the study are as follows:
1. Nankun Mountain has a major market for summer vacation. Tourists come mainly from Guangzhou, Longmen. Huizhou. Zhengcheng. Hong Kong, Macao and other parts of the Pearl River Delta are the Potential market.
2. Tourism has had enormous economic impacts on Nankun Mountain area, employing 12.46% of the labor force, bringing an estimated output value of more than 6 million yuan,playing the most important part in regulating industrial structure and protecting the ecological environment.
3. The behavior of the tourists in the Pearl River Delta, with those from Guangzhou as the major force, is changing from that of sightseeing to one of combing amusement with recuperation. At this time of transition. the tourist development in Nankun Mountain is certain to come to a new stage.
4.The 66.7-kilometer first grade road between Guangzhou and Conghua was put to use on January 30, 1994, cutting the traveling time town to about 2 hours. The shortening of traveling time and distance will enable tourists to demand for more. It can be estimated that there will be a new breakthrough in tourist economy in Nankun Mountain in 1994.
