Abstract:This paper discusses the economic globalization's effect on man-land relationship.Though geographic environment is a silent player on the game between humankind and geographic environment, it has great power on the humankind's activities. On the one hand, the basic pattern of man-land relationship is almost unchanged on the globalization era.On the other hand; globalization has been producing a lot of new characteristics on man-land relationship. Above all, economic globalization enforces the impo rtance of man-land relationship.Firstly, while economic globalization makes the scope of modern regions more ex tensive, the range and possibilities of externalized spaces are diminishing. Therefore, global economic activities will be greatly constrained by geographic environment. Secondly, economic globalization would not modify the basic spatial pattern and interrelationship of economic activities. Thirdly, economic globalization can't guarantee that humankind alleviate its pressure on geographic environment self-consciously.Next, the paper analyses that economic globalization brings about many changes on man-land relationship. There are three main characteristics of man-land relationship on the globalization era. Firstly, the scope of man-land relationship is expanding from special region to the globe. Secondly, man-land relationship on the globalization era has evolved from the static state to the dynamic state. Thirdly, isolated man-land relationship in a special region has stepped into a new stage which has the characteristic of global networking. Finally, the paper suggests the new thoughts of policy adjustment should be on how to improve man-land relationship. One approach is to advocate leading ethic with regard to the man-land relationship. The other is to establish global appraisal network and policy network related to man-land relationship improvement.
