Abstract:Time-geography was originally developed by the Swedish geographer. It depicts individual biography as paths in time and space and an elementary time-space notation has been designed to express the basic concepts.Life-path is a basic concept of Time-geography. This paper analyses the writing course, main contents and protecting course of Guilin Tablet with it.It is the first time to use "life-path" to examine the Guilin tablet which is the great piece of the combination with Guilin natural landscape and historical culture. The authors considered the technique suitable to observe the developing course of Guilin tablet. It can reflect the changing rule of historical thing and people and is useful to recognize the developing rule of Chinese historical culture.Guilin tablet,which is originated in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, rising in the Tang Dynasty, holding in the Song Dynasty, weak in the Yuan Dynasty and prosperous in the period of Ming and Qing, has reflected the prosperity of the travel culture and gradual promotion of Guilin position since ancient times from the style and type of the writing. In Nan Chao,Sui Dynasty,five dynasties after Tang,there were few tablet because of constant civil wars in these periods people had no mood and capital. However,dynasties,for example the Tnag,Song,Ming,Qing,had stong social economy and much more soft social background.So in these periods there were more tablet-Tang 42, Song 496, Ming359, Qing 522. Facing the damage of Guilin tablet landscape, people have thought over various kinds of measures to protect such special culture since the Tang Dynasty, especially in the contemporary period, people make enormous contribution for the sustainable utilization of Guilin tablet landscape with modernized protection method.
