Abstract：With the promotion of sustainable strategy,the concept of sustainable development should be introduced into urban system planning.The paper discusses the theory, method,content,object,and programmy of sustainable planning of urban system (SPUS).The author argues that SPUS is different from traditional planning in the way that SPUS is based on the philosophy of sustainable development and advanced technology of information system;The SPU S should include traditional urban system planning with the help of urban GIS and ecologic-environment planning.
