Abstract:China now has entered the new stage of transformation development of industrialization and urbanization. In spite of this, the contradiction between land especially the demand and supply of urban construction land is still prominent, intensive land use has always been one of the key factors influencing economic and social sustainable development. The paper takes Zhangjiagang City as an example, conducting land intensive utilization evaluation on the industrial enterprises above designated size from a micro level, proposing an index system of land intensive utilization based on the evaluation of enterprises' comprehensive benefits, and carries on space analysis through ArcGIS. The evaluation result shows that most of the industrial enterprises above designated size in Zhangjiagang belong to a level of moderate utilization, implying a low-level industrial structure and a large space of potential industrial land exploitation in Zhangjiagang. On the whole, optimizing land utilization structure and enhancing land utilization efficiency is a reasonable solution to achieve intensive land use. It is imperative for Zhangjiagang to invigorate existing stock of resources, vigorously promote intensive use of land and realize a sustainable development of industry. China is in theoptimi the optimalzation development stage of urbanization, the phenomenon of shortage of urban construction land resources and extensive land use coexistence. How to make full use of land, especially urban land becomes an urgent problem to be solved.
