Abstract：The coordinated development of economy and resource-environment is the key method of sustainable development. Based on the definition of coordinated degree, the model of coordinated degree and the model of dynamic coordinated degree, the authors calculate the value of coordinated degree and dynamic coordinated degree of economic development and resource-environment in Shaanxi province from 1993-2005 respectively, by using principal component analysis method and calculating the index of economic development, the index of resource-environment, the coordinated degree and dynamic coordinated degree as well. The results show:1) the index of economic development increased from 0.063 in 1993 to 0.699 in 2005 and had significant correlation with all the indicators; 2) the index of resource-environment increased from 0.180 to 0.635, mainly resulted from the going into production of the energy and chemical base in northern Shaanxi Province; 3) the value of coordinated degree went up from 0.269 in 1993 to 0.815 in 2005, the index of economic development from 1993 to 2000 was lower than that of resource-environment, the economic index in 2001 was higher than resource-environment index, the economic index from 2003 to 2005 was always higher than resource-environment index; 4) the value of coordinated degree during this period had experienced three stages:the disorder-recession development stage from 1993 to 1995, the barely coordination development stage from 1996 to 2001 and the coordinated development stage from 2002 to 2005; 5) the dynamic coordinated degree increased from 0.156 to 0.471, showing that the total development was in a good track. The findings reveal that the economic development is increasing rapidly, the coordinated degree is rising gradually, and the development of economic and resource-environment is becoming better as well, but the burden of resource-environment system is growing more serious. Through the analysis of the coordinated degree, the relationship between the economic development and resource-environment during the development can be clearly shown, so as to lay more attention to the sustainable development in Shaanxi Province.
