Abstract:Public holidays play a key role in Chinese tourism industry, and the present distribution of tourist flow is a very important topic. Three pairs of scenic spots are selected for study: 1) the Imperial Palace and the Badaling Great Wall in Beijing; 2) Hua Mountain and the Ancient Villages at Huangshan, Southern Anhui; 3) Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses Museum and Hua Mountain near Xi'an. A comparative study is applied to analyze the impact of tourist flows in special-term of regional tourism structure in golden weeks. After golden week in "Labor Day" and "National Day", the National Holiday Affairs Office issues reports of tourist flows in some major tourists spots nationwide based on its information system. We can find that the tourist flows of the six scenic spots all have a bell curve in golden weeks; the mean of R index of the spots is between 0.056 and 0.077; the distinction between the two is less than 0.01; and the G index of every spot is less than 0. The result indicates that more tourists visit these spots in the early stage of golden weeks than usual. With the similar grade and popularity, the Imperial Palace has the priority to be visited because of its better location compared to the Badaling Great Wall. The absolute G index of the former one is therefore bigger than the other, and the Pearson Correlation Coefficient will reach the highest value if tourist flow of the Imperial Palace lagged 1 day behind. The grade, popularity, location, accessibility of tourism facility of destinations and the spatial relationship in a same city affect the spatial structure of the tourist origins, choices of scenic spots and tourist route. These factors determine the tendency of spatial and present distribution of tourist flows. Furthermore, it is the response of tourist flow to the structure of regional tourism in golden weeks.
