STUDY ON THE RECONSTRUCTION OF MULTI-VALUE SPACE IN POST-PRODUCTIVIST COUNTRYSIDE: A CASE STUDY OF MASHAN TOWN IN WUXI

Abstract：The study of rural transformation is of great significance for rural revitalization and urban-rural integration. In the context of China's rapid industrialization and urbanization during the past few decades, rural transformation is a process of accompanying rural economic development and rural spatial transformation. Based on the explanations of the connotation and characteristics of post-productivist countryside, this paper takes Mashan town located in the suburbs of Wuxi as an example and utilizes the land use profiles of Mashan town in different periods of time. Using the methods of comparison of maps and literature analysis, this paper compares the villages from productivism to post-productivism in order to analyze the changes of rural economic form, functional layout and landscape. The main results are summed up as follows: Firstly, this study shows that post-productivist villages are characterized by non-agriculturalization, multi-functionality, ecologicalization and space commercialization. Secondly, in the past 30 years, the development of Mashan town from traditional village to rural industrialization then to eco-tourism resort island is also the process of gradually developing from a productivist village to a post-productivist countryside. Thirdly, with the wave of globalization, consumer culture is spreading in China. Key words: post-productivist countryside
