Abstract:Urban regeneration is an inevitable redevelopment activity through the process of urbanization, there had been various evolution terms such as "urban renewal", "urban regeneration" and "urban redevelopment" in the Western urban development history. In this paper, we use the literature citation network analysis software "CiteSpace" to drawn the scientific knowledge map of urban renewal. By modeling and visual representation the process of urban regeneration research area and direction, we analyzed the emergence of the hot words about urban regeneration and the relationship between each other. Urban regeneration is a spatial response of urban changes in the context of globalization and re-localization, covering all aspects of the city's economic restructuring, cultural turn and the political life re-regulation. As the model of capital accumulation transformation from the Fordism into flexible growth, the Western cities entranced into the de-industrialization era, the post-modern economic structure driven the shifts between the production-based economy into a service-oriented, and symbols of consumption-based economy, the original state power deregulation and local-level re-institutionalization and re-territory of the region, the Western city authority transited from the social-welfare urban management into the entrepreneurships of competitive doctrine to emphasis the market-friendly strategy. Gentrification and urban space privatization are the inevitable effect of urban regeneration during the city spatial change, and the city has witnessed tremendous changes in socio-spatial restructuring. In view of this, emphasizing the concept of sustainable redevelopment of urban regeneration has become the way scholars have advocated, as well as emphasis on a social integration and sustainable economic growth. The result shows that the new economy and sustainable development under de-industrialization context will continue to become the main direction of urban renewal in the future.
