海洋经济地理研究工作大体上是从我国进行全国海岸带调查时开展起来的,前后开展了海岸带(包括从岸线起陆上10公里至水下-15米<实际已达-35米>的地带)的资源调查与评价、社会经济调查与评价、资源利用与开发设想,以及乡镇、县和市的综合开发研究(例如小区综合开发试验和县、市国民经济发展综合规划的研究)等项研究工作,取得了一批成果,也积累了一些经验,特别是发现了一些问题。

The development of the marine region (including the costal zone) is becoming more and more integrative, that is, it involves all the areas of human activities. In the preceeding stage of the development of the marine region, human geography was stressing on marine economic geogra-phy. It is essential and also inevitable. But now, it has entered into the stage of integration, dealing no more with the simple objoct use of the marine region. Therefore, we must have an all-round development of the research of marine human geography (such as marine population geography, marine political geography, costal zone and islands college geography, ma-rine culture geography, marine tourist geography and marine behaviour geog-raphy). Only in this way can we get twice the result with half the effort. It is also the necessary stage for the development. All the branches of marine human geography should go forwand hand in hand, and serve our marine development together.
