本文以参与《西安市地图集》"古都演变图组"的实际工作经验立论,初步探讨了地图学领域的专题地图-城市历史地图编制的意义、特点和方法,并侧重于典型城市内容设计与处理的方式,指出这一工作对当代城市建设和城市历史地理研究都有应用价值。

This paper raises some ideas based on "the Maps about the Ancient City's Evolution" from the book "xian Map Atlas". The paper discusses maps of the subject in cartograph-the significance, the chracteristics and the method of drawing up the urbon historical maps, and it attaches the importance to dicussing the method of how to design and deal with the content of the modle cities. It also points out that this work is valuable in application for modern cities' building and the study of urbon historical geography.
