CROSS-BORDER COOPERATION EVOLUTION FEATURE AND DRIVING MECHANISM RESEARCH

Abstract:Based on globalization economy development, post-industrial revolution and worldwide regional integration cooperation background, in order to alter trade openness between different administrative districts, improve relative regional integrated market competitiveness and cross-border flow flexibility including capital, labor, transport, etc between various countries and districts, many cross-border cooperation regions(CBR) occur in Europe, North America and East Asia. The new economic geography theory already notices the importance of administrative border in trade and other economic activities. The research for crossborder cooperation already becomes hotspot in research field of economy geography theory. The economy activities show high economic agglomeration near American boundaries because America has great ability in influencing nearby regions. High percent of Canadian and Mexican cities locate near to American boundary. Cross-border cooperation in Asia are directed by China, Japan and Korea simultaneously to seek for whole economic hinterland expansion and regional integration cooperation, while the cooperation shows great potential and risk because improvement is emergently needed due to political and territory discussion between different countries. Although the southeastern countries are relatively small entities compared with China and Japan, the cross-border cooperation in southeastern Asia also shows special pattern that different from other regions. Based on the motivation of cross-border cooperation, the paper studies the main influencing factors and driving mechanism for various kinds of cross-border cooperation. The space governance method is important for cross-border cooperation. The paper concludes the typical modes of cross-border cooperation in different parts of the world and comes to the conclusion that cross-border cooperation should seriously analyze the relationship in the whole region and select the suitable space governance mode due to specific situation.
