Abstract:Against the background of the process of urbanization of China, huge amount of floating population poured into the city, especially in large metropolitan areas like Shanghai. Thus the social integration of the floating population is important for both large metropolitan areas and recurrent population. In order to make an overall and systematic analysis, this research is based on the results of investigation in Shanghai. The research mainly concerns on social integration, which applied ESDA method and factor analysis as well. We try to use multiple kinds of index and methods, such as Moran I, hot spot analysis, spatial regression, in order to have a deep and comprehensive understanding on the characteristics of migrants' social integration, as well as the important dynamics behind the phenomenon. The research concludes that, in general, obvious homogeneity, which means the same tends to gather, is found in migrants' social integration. But the discrepancy has emerged in different district and counties. On the other side, according to the data in Shanghai, "hot spots" areas appear at the borders of the central district of a base area, where the social integration index is highly related as well. However the migrants' social integration in Shanghai has no distinguished cold spot in spatial yet. The social integration in these areas is influenced by many factors. As to the dynamics, spatial and institutional factors play a vital part in the whole process, which the degree of satisfaction on public services and the social insurance expenses as well as participation in social insurances matter most.
