Applied geography is based on the theories and methods of geography and is the extension of pure academic geography, induding two important stages of evaluation and implementation. Value andlysis plays a great role in applied geography. In the West counties, the research fields of applied geography are: (1) environment and natural resources; (2) planning and construction; (3)culture and society. Some various characteristics of research work include: closely cooperating with government and enterprises;focusing on the solution, of actual wnd pressing issues;laying a special emphasis on regional stadies and assessment and implementation of plans and policies.
