Abstract:The spatial distribution characteristics and the evolvement rule of five-star hotel are compared and analyzed between the two years 1997 and 2002 with the help of geographical convergence exponent and Lorenz curves in this paper. According to the conditions of the evolvement of inbound tourism in china, also with regression analysis and rate correlation exponent, the inner relationship between the supplying conditions of five-star hotels and the development of inbound tourism is analyzed with the two index international tourism revenue and the number of inbound tourism, which can give theoretic guidance to the construction and investment of hotels. In the end, the following conclusions are made:1)The geographical convergence exponent of the five-star hotels decreases from 95.08 in 1997 to 89.94 in 2002 year, which shows the spreading trend of the distribution of five-star hotels. At present the condition of that most five-star hotels are in three cities Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai is changed and the Southeast Coast District becomes "high supplying belt" of five-star hotels. 2)The development of the inbound tourism speeds the construction of five-star hotel in our country. The drop pattern of inbound tourism is broken and evolves to the line pattern step by step. Its spatial homogenization trend gives guidance to the distribution of five-star hotels. 3)According to the binomial regression,it can be found that the spatial distribution of five-star hotels is closely related to the tourism foreign revenue.its function is described like that y=3.5602x2+43.142x, in which y and x respectively mean the tourism foreign revenue and the number of five-star hotels. This function can measure the economic threshold of building of a five-star hotel. 4) In virtue of rate correlation exponent, the potential of the development of five-star is analyzed. Taking the number of inbound tourism as an index, it can be made that it has been probable to add a five-star hotel in most provinces by 2002.
