DISSOLUTION AND RECONSTRUCTION OF PLACE IDENTITY OF URBAN MINORITY COMMUNITIES

Abstract：In the process of urban spatial production and changes of the times, urban minority communities often face significant changes in spatial form and function. How to maintain the local characteristics and cultural heritage of ethnic minorities through local reconstruction has become an important issue to be studied urgently. Based on the case of the disintegration of Shanyitang Hui community in Kaifeng under the background of urban renewal, this paper makes a thorough analysis of the local changes, local identity and local reconstruction of urban minority communities. It has been shown that the local formation of urban minority communities and the construction of local identity depend on their own unique material landscape and cultural traditions. The disintegration of minority communities has a great impact on the sense of place. The local relics after the disintegration of minority communities have become the only coordinate of identity construction and local identity of residents after dispersal, but it has been difficult to resettle the sense of belonging of most young groups. The landmark architectural cultural landscape and the traditional culture it carries can meet the functional and emotional needs of local residents, so that their local identity of urban ethnic communities can be continued. In the local changes of urban minority communities, it is particularly important for residents to stick to their unique culture. If not stick to their culture, the unique local culture formed by Shanyitang community will completely disappear in urban life. As long as this spatial element with important identity function is not completely destroyed in the changes of the times, the place may be given a variety of meanings to reconstruct the local identity, which is of special significance for the maintenance and inheritance of the local characteristic culture of urban ethnic minorities.
