Abstract:Sustainable agriculture and rural development (SARD) is the tight coupling of sustainable agricultural development and sustainable rural development. It plays an important role in maintaining rural natural resources, protecting the ecological environment, ensuring global food security, eliminating poverty, and even promoting rural revitalization. By clarifying the connotation of SARD, the literature analysis method and CiteSpace 5.6.R5 are used to recognize key SARD literatures, combining the actual situation of SARD in China and propose the prospect of SARD research in China. Here are the results:The results of co-citation analysis show that the evolution of SARD research hotspots in the past 30 years can be divided into the initial period (1991-1996), the growth period (1997-2007), and the maturity period (2008-); In the past 30 years, the overall characteristics of SARD research are as follows:The research objectives shift to the resilience of farmers' livelihoods and rural revitalization, the research perspective highlights the integration of multiple disciplines, the research themes focus on the multifunctional agriculture, the research contents tend to center on "relocalization", and the research spatial scale becomes down to the farm level, the research method emphasizes participatory development;
