TEMPORAL CHARACTERISTICS AND COUPLING OF URBAN-RURAL TRANSFORMATION AND RURAL REGIONAL MULTIFUNCTION IN BEIJING: FROM 1978 TO 2012

Abstract:Under the strategy implementation of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei synergetic development, along with optimizing of regional town layoutand the preceding of industrial layout adjustment, the demands for theadjustment and reconstructionof rural regional function are urgent. Regarding the areal system theory of the relation between people and land as the guidance,this research builds the evaluation systems of urban-rural transformation and rural regional multifunctionrespectively, andconductsthe quantitative evaluation on the characteristics of urban-rural transformation and rural regional function in Beijing City. The results show:1) During 1978-2012, the whole city's transformation of urban and ruralhas experienced three stages, which is a slow transformation (1978-1995), rapid transformation(1996-2006), and the transformation slow (2007-2012) in turn; The transformation index of urban and rural areas increases from 0.117 in 1978 to 0.936 in 2012. 2)The development of rural regional multifunction is profoundly influenced by ecology, history, market and policy and so on. 3)There is a certain correlation between the development of the urban-rural transformation andrural regional multifunction.
