Abstract:Expressway is the backbone of the modern transportation system, and it's characterized by totallyclosed, large capacity and high speed to gain advantages in passenger transport and cargo transport in the middle-distance and short-distance. For nearly thirty years sustainable construction, China has formed a large-scale, multi-level and broad coverage cooperative expressway network, which has a major impact of the existing road network's accessibilities and traffic locations, and also has a huge thrust convenient to the formation of urban and regional spatial interactions at the same time. For the use of the expressway network to insight spatial structure of urban network launched at the theoretical level, although some discussion, but empirical support with real expressway traffic flow is still very weak, resulting in its study lagged behind air traffic flow and rail traffic flow. Under the OD flow data and transit time data of Jiangsu expressway network in December 2012, this paper analyzes the nodes, paths and associated groups of urban spatial interaction elements, and attempt to draw the basic graph of urban spatial interactions. The conclusions can be drawn as follows:1)All the urban nodes form a hierarchy of several levels and the vital ones are connected with their socio-economic development status or the functional orientation in expressway network. 2)The single groups or neighbor groups are consists of "central city and correlative node", and the transit time between two cities within a group are mainly in one hour. 3)Considering the elements of nodes, paths and associated groups to draw the basic graph of urban spatial interactions, which are consists of three systems.
