EMPIRICAL RESEARCH ON THE SPATIAL LAYOUT CHANGING AND THE COUPLING DEVELOPMENT OF THE STRATEGIC EMERGING INDUSTRIES AND REGIONAL ECONOMY: A CASE STUDY OF YANGTZE RIVER DELTA

Abstract：Strategic emerging industries are a new concept brought up in 2009 in China to tide over the international financial crisis and to focus on long-term economic development strategy. Based on profound study of related Chinese and foreign literatures, this article points out that there aren't many researches carried out the study of the relationship between the development of strategic emerging industries and the development of economy via empirical research, and the empirical researches on the coordinated relationship between strategic emerging industries within a specific region and the economic development are even rare. Based on above analysis, several conclusions will be drawn:firstly, coupled strategic emerging industries of Yangtze River Delta and its regional economy are promoting each other significantly; secondly, the current development of strategic emerging industries of Yangtze River Delta are still vastly below the level of its regional economy; thirdly, different economic developing elements of Yangtze River Delta are not contributing evenly to the strategic emerging industries, which influences the coordinated development and the sustainable development of strategic emerging industries; fourthly, lack of fund is a crucial factor which affects the development of the strategic emerging industries of Yangtze River Delta; fifthly, with less consumption of material resources, huge growth potential, and comprehensively great beneficial result, all these advantages have ensured that the prospect of strategic emerging industries is broad and cheerful, which deserves our attention, as well as taking effective measures to vigorously support them.
