Abstract:Social gender is the key reference indicators for social positions. Researches have shifted from the description of change of social gender concepts to the social impacts of its change and its reasons. However, those researches mainly pay much attention to the impacts of age, education level, experiences and personal characteristics on social gender; researches on impacts of tourism development on social gender are yet absent. This paper chooses Sani, Dai, and Hani, the three typical patriarchy ethnic groups as research objects, and takes villages of Manchunman, Manzha and Mangajian, Wukeshu and Yuehu, and Qingkou and Dayutang as cases with series of questionnaires and intensive interviews. The paper makes a vertical and horizontal comparison of social gender concept between the women from villages undergoing tourism development and those from ones with no tourism development so as to explore the impact of tourism development on the social gender concept of ethnic women under aboriginal patriarchy system. By the research, it is found that tourism development by promoting social culture communication has brought profound impact on social gender concept of the ethnic women, enhanced their subject awareness and independent capacity. And by diligence and intelligence, ethnic females break up traditional gender division of labor and changed the traditional condescending custom which is formed for thousands years by the patriarchy system. The research will be favorable for the construction of harmonious society of ethnic minority communities, the enhancement of ethnic females' social position and gender equality.
