Abstract:The paper takes 31 cities in China and 10 cities in Shaanxi province as research objects, based on the analysis of elementary urbanization conditions. At the same time, the author chooses four urbanization factors including the proportion of the non-agricultural population, the area of urban district, the area of road and the actually completed investment in fixed assets. With the method of multivariate regression model, it analyses the effects to the development of different regions and different kinds of cities which have been brought about by urbanization. It comes to a conclusion that only reasonable urbanization will result in the promotion of regional economic development. Furthermore, several urbanization ways and countermeasures adapting to various levels of economic development are also suggested as a try. The main points of the paper are as follows. First, with the reason that the contributions of each urbanization factor to regional economy are quite various in different areas, there isn't a uniform model that can be put forward for the whole country. Second, among cities with different scales, obvious differences of economic performance exist which is brought by each urbanization factor, and the direct result is that different kinds of cities should have their own focus of development.
