Abstract

Choosing connectivity, accessibility, and the average distance connecting villages to the trunk roads as indicators, taking 12 towns as research units, this paper analyses comprehensive accessibility level of the rural road network of Lianzhou city, Guangdong province. Results show that the connectivity level of the rural roads is quite poor, and their allocation is unreasonable, presenting obvious characteristic of surrounding trunk roads. Although town center area has a relatively high level of accessibility, it's inconvenient for the villagers in one town to contact with each other. We can also learn from the research that the spatial structure of accessibility is like concentric circles, radiating from the town center to its surroundings. And according to the indicator, the rural road network plays an important role in connecting villages to outside areas, which is obviously beneficial for the development of the rural logistics industry. In order to better understand the spatial structure of comprehensive accessibility of Lianzhou city, we calculate the comprehensive value of all towns by using a weighted summation method. According to the calculation results, we divide the towns into 5 hierarchies. Lianzhou town and Dongbei town are in the first place, which means that they have the most convenient transport networks; Sanshui town is the last one, indicating that its rural road network construction needs to be further accelerated. In the end, based on the preceding research, we also make a preliminary analysis about formation mechanism of the comprehensive accessibility level of the rural road network, and find that it correlates to many factors, including the size of the area, topography feature, economic strength, node layout and road construction.
