Abstract  Located at the edge of mountainous regions of Guangdong province, Fujian province and Jiangxi Province, Mei-Long-Gan Hakkas areas are the most centralized and representative ones of Hakka culture in the world, keeping the frequent contacts among each other as an organic unite due to their similar geographic conditions and cultral tradition. Starting with the formation and time-space evolution of Hakka cultural ecology, the paper states in general their fundamental characteristics and the common models, and further explains ecological niche, ecological amplitude, ecological effect and border effect on a cultural background, indicating that the ecological system of Hakka culture was formed based on natural geographical condition and humanistic history while absorbing aboriginal cultures. Also, encircled by Guangfu, Chaoshan, Xiangchu, Jiangxi, and Jiangzhe cultures and situated on the ecological interface of their interaction, Hakka regions are involved in their competition, and function as the multi-dimensional spatial combination of comprehensive cultural and ecological ingredients of mountain areas. Hakkas ecological culture mode was formed in the Hakkas areas deeply rooted in the local characteristics with the lasting-reserve of the Central Plains traditional culture and the absorption of aboriginal culture, affecting the resource exploitation mode, the fund accumulation and the orientation of the investment from the coutry and different provinces, delaying technological innovation and progress as well as influencing the cultivation and use of talents. Finally, the significances towards the regional economic and social development are put forward concerning the influence of protection of Hakka cultural and ecological environment and of carrying forward of Hakka traditional culture.
