Abstract The current researches of regional innovation focus on regional innovation system, the evaluation of innovation efficiency, the impact factors of regional innovation and regional innovation layout etc. Nowadays, there are 12 National Productivity Development Centers and 124 Provincial Science Innovation Service Centers in Zhengjiang. As the medium of innovation region, the center of innovation region plays an important role on the integration and optimizing of regional innovation resources so that the regional innovation superiority can be fully developed. The authors make investigations on 136 regional innovation centers of 69 counties in Zhengjiang province in order to probe on the spatial layout and clustering feature of this province. The method of ArcGIS spatial analysis techniques is applied by using the algorithm of nearestneighbor distance, kernel density estimation, exploratory spatial data analysis so as to explore the effects of spatial layout and clustering feature for Zhengjiang regional innovation centers. The conclusions are as follows:firstly, in 2013, the spatial layout of Zhengjiang regional innovation centers shows a dense distribution in the central areas and a dispersed distribution in the around areas; secondly, the authors measure the spatial distribution by utilizing the algorithm of nearest-neighbor distance and kernel density estimation. The results show that the innovation centers of different counties except Hangzhou have the the characteristics of agglomeration meanwhile the high value regions and low value regions are agglomerated respectively.
