中国城乡流动人口“回流”研究进展与述评

Abstract The great rural-urban population mobility in post-reform China reflects the dynamic human-land relationship, the core of the geography. Against the background of globalization, China's industrial transformation and upgrading, and "mobility turn" in geography, rural-urban floating population, especially the returnees, is playing an important role in urban and rural development. The return floating population emerged in the late 1990s in China, but it has not gained much attention of academia. Based on the extensive literature obtained from the core journals included in Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), this paper reviews the research progresses of rural-urban return floating population from three aspects, which are the evolution of research topics, the theories and research methods. The main findings are as following:1) The current research focuses on five topics including rural development, policies, social issues, preferences, and group differences. 2) Four major issues have been examined:The characteristics of returnees, mechanism of returning, reflux timing and effects of return floating population. 3) Existing studies have emphasized the impact of human capital and the state. 4) The population-level research has been the focus of the study. Yet the individual-level research should be strengthened. Based on the literature review above, we discuss the future development trend:1) Centering on individual-, family-, community-, regional-level and state, market, society in the mechanism of returning to develop an interdisciplinary theoretical framework. 2) Research on return spatial pattern. 3) Examine the relationship between returnees and the development strategies of new urbanization, rural revitalization.
