Based on the application of the methods of spatial analysis, with taking Shenyang Economic Zone as the object of study, this article introduces the concept of regional gravity center, analyses the temporal evolution of the internal economic center of gravity and the trace of evolution from 1992 to 2010, reveals the dynamic changes of economic development and the question of unbalanced spatial development, then discusses the causes of economic gravity evolution and driving mechanism. The results of the study are as followed:①the economic center of Shenyang Economic Zone mainly distributed in between Shenyang Sujiatun District and Liaoyang Dengta County close to the geometric center. It has obvious phase characteristics moving from southwest to northeast. In terms of latitude and longitude direction, the moving process of economic gravity presents the obvious non- constant velocity characteristics, especially in the year 2003-2006; ② mobile phase of the Shenyang Economic Zone economic center has a distinct signature. Compared with the geometric center, it is far from the economic center and then close to it later. This character indicates that the disproportion economic development of Shenyang Economic Zone is weakening, that is consistent of the reality of economic development;③ for 19 years, the mobile trend of economic center of Shenyang Economic Zone moves from northeast to southwest, then moves from southwest to northeast, but the moving track is tortuous. Its annual moving distance and direction has a positive correlation with regional economy development level, speed and policy, showing the changes of development strategy and policy in different period and the strategic orientation of economic development in Liaoning province and Shenyang City.
