Abstract:Tourism development brings the huge social influence to the community. This paper focuses on the impact on interpersonal relationship caused by tourism development in rural society. Based on local research, this paper takes Yaotang village and Duanshi village, two villages in Danxiashan Scenic Spot where tourism industry develops well, as cases. After confirming the measurement frame of interpersonal relationship and making assumptions about the changes of each factor, the writer conducts depth interviews and questionnaire surveys to get data and information and verifies the assumptions. Then the writer explores the impacts of tourism development on rural interpersonal problems in China. The result shows that tourism development has not only negative but also positive effect on interpersonal relationship. On one hand, some negative effects cannot be ignored. The development of tourism will reduce the contact time between the villagers, change the originally simple values of local villagers, especially the new generation and reduce villagers' social interaction etc. On the other hand, it can take local civilization to a higher level, reduce common friction between the villagers in daily life, increase more collective activity such as organizing a tour and raise their awareness of cooperation as well. These positive changes in interpersonal relationship are good for developing tourism in these villages, and even the local villagers realize the negative effects caused by tourism, they will still support the development of tourism, which is out of expectation. The results of this paper are more comprehensive and some of them challenge the ideas which have been accepted in the past researches. To some extent, this paper enriches tourism social influence theory and tries to arouse more attention on specializing study on tourism social impact, especially interpersonal relationship.
