Abstract:With the acceleration of current economic globalization and regional integration process, the province of Guangdong is under enormous pressure for dealing with the industrial structure adjustment and industrial layout optimization. This study firstly introduced the indices of urban central-functions strength into accessibility measure modeling, including daily-accessibility measure model, time-based accessibility measure model and potential-based accessibility measure model. And then, a combination of these models were implemented to calculate different districts' accessibility indices for accessing the regional accessibility in the province of Guangdong. Moreover, geography information system GIS) and Kriging spatial interpolation technologies were applied to draw contour maps for illustrating the spatial distribution and regional differences of the accessibility in the areas of the province of Guangdong. At last, the study used multiple accessibility coefficients to implement a grade partition in the areas in the areas of Guangdong. According to the isochrones derived from the districts' accessibility indices and Kriging spatial interpolation method in GIS, the contour maps show the spatial patterns of the daily- and time-based accessibility in the province of Guangdong are represented by a concentric distribution structure with the center of Pearl River Delta. As a consequence, the districts in the Pearl River Delta, which is the economic center of the province of Guangdong, have the best accessibility and economic ties intensity. But the districts in the north and east and west wings, where are away from the economic center i.e., the Pearl River Delta), have the worst accessibility. In short, this study focuses on revealing the spatial patterns characteristics and spatial difference disciplines in the regional accessibility in the province of Guangdong.
